Angel on the Ark

As I watched him descend into the earth below,
He looked like a shooting star.
It was in that moment I knew our wish would be realized.
I closed my eyes to say one final prayer,

"Shadow,
I guess this is goodbye.
You're probably mad at me for what I did, but hopefully you'll be able to forgive me.
You always had a kind heart, even if you never liked admitting it.
I hope you'll enjoy Earth, there were so many things I wanted to show you.
It looks like you'll have to see them for yourself.
I hope you'll have fun, and make lots of friends.
But most of all, I hope you'll find your purpose, because I know I have.
You're destined for great things, I know you're a hero.
No matter what the demons say, I know you're an angel.

My last memory of her was when she fell to the ground.
My world was destroyed within seconds...

Maria,
You are my world.
As I spiral down, I can't help feeling like a fallen angel descending to hell.
I couldn't protect you, and so this is my punishment.
The flames surrounding me are growing bigger,
But not even they can warm the ice in my heart.
What did I, no, what did you do to deserve this!
This can't be! How could they destroy my world!
I don't know how I'll go on,
The darkness within is beckoning.
The only way to resolve this is vengeance; to destroy their world.
If I can't have my world, no one else will.

In less than an hour, my goal will be achieved.
Soon enough, Maria will be avenged.
What's this? The pink haired girl wants to stop me?
I'll humor her. Its not like I see her as a threat.
Suddenly she says some very familiar words...

"Maria,
I finally understand those last words you told me.
I will grant this wish of yours, even if it costs me my life.
Thank you for saving me from the darkness,
And helping me realize my true purpose.
I am indebted to you always.
Love, Shadow"

In what seemed to be the Earth's final moments,
The world was saved and the people rejoicing.
All except for Shadow, who was falling to the earth...

"Maria,
This feels familiar, but somehow its more peaceful.
I'm glad I could be your shooting star.
I got to shine my light even if only for a few moments.
I finally realized our wish, I hope you were watching.
I'll be returning to you soon, my angel."
